O programa da última noite das Conferências Internacionais de Caux 2011 foi o marco do 50º aniversário da morte de Frank Buchman, o fundador de Iniciativas de Mudança. The final evening programme of the International Caux Conferences 2011 marked the 50th anniversary of the death of Frank Buchman, the founder of Initiatives of Change. Buchman died in Freudenstadt, in the Black Forest, in Germany, in 1961. A church service in the Protestant chapel in Caux in the morning also marked this anniversary. The Buchman anniversary was on the last full day of the ‘Trust and Integrity in the Global Economy’ conference in the Initiatives of Change centre in Caux, Switzerland.

In its 'Olden life' column, The Oldie, an amusing and sometimes satirical monthly magazine, UK, carried a one-page feature on 'What was MRA?' in its November issue. Freelance journalist Nigel Fountain wrote about MRA's supposed anti-communism and Frank Buchman's 'PR disaster' in apparently approving of Hitler. The article mentions some of the public figures associated with MRA including King Michael of Romania, Prince Richard of Hesse, tennis champion Bunny Austin, Mrs Thomas Edison, and Rajmohan Gandhi.

In the 1890s, William "Bill Pickle" Gilliland was working as a janitor at Penn State. On the side, he was supplying alcohol to the 1,400 students who lived in a small, boondocks town where saloons were banned -- State College, Pa. Then, in 1911, Pickle met Frank Buchman, founder of the Moral Re-Armament, who befriended the bootlegger. The unusual friendship between the two men influenced Pickle to become a Christian, to stop drinking, and to convince students to do the same.

On 27 June, 1908, 100 years ago, a young American Frank Buchman experienced a spiritual awakening which led ultimately to the worldwide movement now known as Initiatives of Change.
