A visit to South Africa's notorious Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years, leads Chris Breitenberg to ask himself what he is prepared to sacrifice for future generations.

"Eu nunca soube que eu carregava tal bagagem emocional, mas agora eu sei por onde começar", disse Fathima durante o debate sobre o perdão. Ela foi um dos onze participantes, muçulmanas e cristãs, participando de uma oficina do Circulo de Criadoras de Paz organizada por uma ONG muçulmana, Nur Baytul, em 10 e 11 de Dezembro em Durban.

“I never knew I carried so much emotional baggage, but now I know where to start”, said Fathima during the discussion on forgiveness. She was one of the eleven participants, Muslim and Christian, attending a Creators of Peace Circle workshop arranged by a Muslim NGO, Baytul Nur on 10 and 11 December in Durban.

Treze jovens de sete países africanos e da Índia participaram de 20 de Setembro a 15 de Novembro de 2008 em duas semanas de aprendizado interativo e seis semanas de trabalho de campo em 3 províncias da África do Sul. O tema foi Explorando a Liderança Moral e Serviço na África do Século 21.

Thirteen young people from seven African countries and India took part from 20 September to 15 November 2008 in two weeks of interactive learning and six weeks of fieldwork across three provinces of South Africa.  The theme was Exploration into Moral Leadership and Service in 21st Century Africa.

Dr Lillian Cingo is the tireless manager of ‘Phelophepa’ - known to millions as South Africa’s ‘Miracle Health Train’. As guest-speaker at the London centre of Initiatives of Change on 20 November, she spoke about her work onboard this 16-carriage train that brings much-needed primary health care - and hope - to South Africa’s rural poor. She was introduced by Amina Dikedi-Ajakaiye from Nigeria.
