A joint press conference between Professor Rajmohan Gandhi, President of Intiatives of Change International, and the Pakistani Ambassador to the United Nations, Abdullah Hussain Haroon, appealing for support for the victims of Pakistan's catastrophic floods, received wide press coverage across Asia.

Gandhi is the biographer and grandson of Indian independence leader Mohandas K (Mahatma) Gandhi. Harooun is a grandson of Sir Abdullah Haroon, a friend of the Mahatma and a close colleague of the founder of Pakistan, Qaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
