The Morung Express Carries Article about Action for Life
The Morung Express carried an article on 17 December entitled 'Mon town celebrates combined Pre-Christmas 2008' quoting Niketu Iralu introducing Action for Life members at a pre-Christmas celebration.
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 16 (DIPR): In commemoration of the ‘Year of Capacity Building 2008, a two day combined Pre-Christmas Celebrations at Mon town came to a close on December 14 displaying unity and oneness and reflecting the multi-ethnic society of Mon town.
Introducing his team members ‘Action for Life’ and comparing its activities with the ‘Year of Capacity Building’ Niketu Iralu, social scientist & member, Moral Re-Armament (MRA), HQ. Shillong said that ‘Action for Life’ has come at the right time, at the right place and with the right people. He called upon all sections of society, organizations and individuals to ‘admit our mistakes and examine ourselves, who we are before pointing our fingers to others’. He pointed out that Nagas should admit that the Naga struggle has destroyed the Naga people for whom it was started. Quoting a verse from the Holy Bible he exhorted the gathering to give the best and not the worst to others.
Chairman, DPDB & MARCOFED, the Chief Host of the program called upon the gathering to remove all differences and build Mon district with love and peace. He extended special gratitude to the National workers, ‘Action for Life’ Team and elderly citizens of Mon town for their presence.
Extending gratitude to the chairman DPDB and its members for taking the initiative to organize the program, Chingwang Konyak, CLP Leader in his short speech appealed to the people to place Christ in the middle of their life and also to practice love, peace and tolerance.
Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Dinesh Kumar, IAS called upon all Christians to practice and adopt basic principles and ethos of the Holy Bible. He also pointed out that the purpose of organizing the program is to maintain peace and unity for development of Mon district besides entertainment after the yearlong hard work. He said that it further gives direct platform for all to share their feelings and hoped that Christmas would bring peace and prosperity in the district.
The highlights of the celebration were special numbers presented by the elders of Mon town, Combine Choir of Mon town and three songs presented by the National Workers on peace and reconciliation, besides special numbers from KBCM, Miss. P. Sunday and ‘Action for Life’ team.
Other special features of the celebration were Christmas Cake Race by the youth of all Churches, Youth Get Together activities led by ‘Action for Life’ team and Praise & Worship by the Konjong School on December 13. While the next day a devotional service was held besides a Christmas cake dedication service, Christmas Feast, gift exchange by the officers, pastors and special guests, a lucky draw and a ‘Christmas Light’ Program.
The two day program was organized by the DPDB, Mon under the theme ‘Christ the Light, Peace on Earth’. The aim of organizing the program was to promote peace, harmony and also to strengthen relationships among the various sections of people living under Mon district through the birth of Jesus Christ, the ‘Prince of Peace’.
